News - September 17th 2011

New Quay have continued their 100% start to the season with another impressive win at the expense of Crannog. The win takes them four points clear of the rest of the pack although they have a break from league action next week as they take on Trawsgoed in the first round of the Cwpan Ceredigion.

Looking to make up some ground will be St Dogmaels who beat Lampeter on Friday night to leap-frog them in to second place. Lampeter's second defeat of the season will not have gone down well and Aberaeron may well be the recipients of the resulting backlash next weekend.

Aberaeron never got out of second gear against a Maesglas team that took their chances well in winning four nil and taking over in third place. Maesglas are also in cup action this weekend.

Cardigan lost again, this time to Llanboidy, and must feel that the league title is nearly out of reach already. They face a resurgent Felinfach next week in what promises to be an interesting game given the past weekend's results.

Not many will have predicted the scoreline of 6-0 that transpired when Felinfach played Pencader on Saturday. It's a result partly explained by the fact that Felinfach have a number of key players back after injury which explains the goals. Manager Dave Dalton claimed he was happier with the clean sheet than the six goals and looking at the goals against column in the league table you can see why. Either way it's a sign that anybody can beat anybody in this league on their day.

In the second division just one point separate the top five teams. Perhaps the biggest surpsire of the day was Bargod Rangers going down 6-3 to St Dogmaels Reserves.

Similarly, Ffostrasol will have expected to have beaten New Quay Reserves following the start they have had to the season but came away with just a draw.

Newcastle Emlyn, Llandysul and Llanybydder notched up wins to stake their claims for the league title although it is early days at the moment.

It's also early days in the Reserves Cup although the league table is starting to take shape. This week there were very imppressive wins for Maesglas and, in particular, Crannog. Pencader closed the gap on early leaders Felinfach with a win over Aberporth and, finally, Llanboidy and Felinfach played out a draw at Cae Dandre.
